Pineal gland is pine-cone shaped gland so it's name is pineal. It is small pea shaped gland in the brain located on the roof of diencephalon or third ventricle behind anterior choroid plexus . Th pineal gland was once know as the "third eye" it's function  isn't fully understood. The primary function of pineal gland is to produce melatonin(amine hormone) . It secreted only during night when no light fallen on retina. Melatonin has various function in the central nervous system the most important Of which is to help modulate sleep pattern. Melatonin production is stimulate by darkness and inhabited by light.

Don' consider the death is apposite of life in reality the death is absence of life. Darkness don't exist either. Darkness is in reality the absence of light.  There is no parameter for measuring of life and death,darkness and light. Don't consider good God and bad God(evil). Evil don't exist it is just like darkness and cold.God didn't create evil,evil is the result of what happens when man don't have God's love present in his heart. There is no parameter for measuring God, do not try to measure it.
